Where is the wake if beyond the conscious? There are places within the history of humanity that some people have sought out by challenging their physical limits in order to see what is there. Sensation, arousal, deprivation. It is through performance that Abramovic explores the depths of this idea of human tolerance, mentally and physically. Cleaning the House is a collection of thought and process, images and artifacts of her experiences and motivations in the form of a scrapbook.
