I miss the Bagdad!
Hi Karen! Me too! I don’t go there often enough. Sadly it’s been years … Thanks for stopping by and commenting! Best, Kevin.
The Object Stories idea is a great one.
Yeah, I thought so too. On their site, one can see some of the recordings they have made. It’s really interesting! Best, Kevin.
I wish we had this in the UK!! We’re Coen Brothers fans too!
The CINCO DE LEBOWSKI VII FESTIVAL sounds awesome. I attended something like this in Chicago. In 2007 there was Lebowski fest in the UK. Check out http://www.lebowskifest.com/ They have a great picture of a look-a-like contest of the Dude on their home page. It looks like photoshop until you see they are actually different Lebowskis!
That’s a kind of crowd I’d enjoy! I can’t begin to imagine the amount of White Russians consumed!!
Wow! Thanks for the link to Lebowski fest! Who knew there were so so so many people who look just like the Dude. For some reason, I find an odd sort of comfort in that thought
Thanks again. Best, Kevin.
Yeah, it sounds like a lot of fun, doesn’t it? I wish I could have made it! Thanks for commenting and checking out the blog! Best, Kevin.
Cinco De Lebowski! It’s possible I have never wanted to live in Portland as much as I do at this moment. I’m positively green.
Ha! Thanks, Jessica. I’m glad you enjoyed the post!!! Hopefully you were able to celebrate Cinco De Lebowski in your own way
Best, Kevin.
Even though I’m not in the area, I’m definitely going to look up more information about Object Stories! I am absolutely fascinated by personal connections to objects! Looks like a really interesting collaborative work!
Hi tarapappas! So glad you enjoyed the post! Object Stories is definitely an intriguing project. I believe if you go to their website, there are a few example videos of some of the testimonials they have collected. Really cool. Thanks again. Best, Kevin.
Thanks, Kevin! I’ll check out their website this afternoon! So cool.
I am really fascinated by just how much human beings attach narratives to objects – how much the existence of the object is thus rendered meaningful through the stories attached/ascribed to it. Object Stories is a great idea, and a really valuable project/process in the examination of how we invest the material world with meaning.
I totally agree. I’ve been thinking about this very thing for years. So well put! Thank you for commenting! Best, Kevin.
Cinquo de Lebowski? Si, por favor. Too bad I’m on the wrong side of the continent.
This “object stories” thing is a neat idea … kinda reminds me of a video time-capsule, if there were such a thing.
Yeah, I can see that. It reminded me of the Story Corps project (http://storycorps.org/), which I highly recommend if you aren’t already familiar with it. Those stories are often featured on National Public Radio (NPR). Some are extremely touching. This one (http://storycorps.org/listen/stories/paul-wilson-and-his-daughter-marty/) actually brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for commenting! Best, Kevin.
